Time for my first race in the Formula Mazda and my first race at Road America. I didn’t qualify and started from fifth place. I was also iRated as the fifth highest driver in the event.

Considering it was my first attempt, it didn’t go as badly as it could have, but it wasn’t great. The start was good, I made a good pass on the first lap and then ran as highly as fourth during the race (and was closing in on third), but on lap nine of twenty, it all went wrong…

I ran slightly wide around the Carousel and this made me lose control of the car. As I was spinning I managed to floor the throttle at just the right moment to help myself avoid contact with the wall though… So I drove on, but I’d lost every bit of concentration and into the next braking area, I completely fluffed it!

I wound up finishing in fifth, but took huge damage to my license… Not a happy chappie… Hoping for better next time… Incidents were plentiful, I went off track eight times, one of them resulting in the spin.
