I’ll be brutally honest; Elite Dangerous has felt like a chore every time I have tried it recently. I can’t place exactly what is to blame, so I assume it to be a combination of small factors, including that I have been playing it constantly since it was an early-Alpha.

The good thing about this game is that the various play styles vary so much that you can take a break from Elite Dangerous by playing Elite Dangerous; What does that mean? Well, I can take a break from bounty hunting, combat, missions, etc, by just heading off into the blackness and exploring the galaxy.

I saw a screenshot someone posted of a group of explorers setting off on a great journey and honestly the timing couldn’t have been better… I asked for information, signed up, and found that I was actually a week late in doing so… But still had plenty of time to get out there and catch them up if a speed-ran the first couple of waypoints.

I set off from Abraham Lincoln, a station orbiting Earth in the Sol system and headed straight for Galactic Nebula Expedition Waypoint 0.

Veil West is a real sight to behold, and something that (along with Barnard’s Loop) should be added to every pilots ‘must visit’ list… Thankfully I have caught up with the tail-end of the main group, and should now be able to interact with other pilots at waypoint 2 in three days time…
