Leaving Omega Nebula behind me, I trekked on towards Eagle Nebula, staying overnight in orbit around a nearby water world, moving closer the next morning.
To be honest, I was disappointed. Eagle Nebula is somewhere I’d hoped to see some specific things like the Pillars of Creation, first photographed over a thousand years ago by the first Hubble telescope from the edges of the Sol System. Unfortunately, I wasn’y able to find anything that resembled them and, frankly, it looked just like Omega Nebula.
So the highlight of this section of the journey ended up being the discovery of another Earth-like world and some Neutron Stars.
I may try to get away from the galactic plane a little, giving myself a more likely opportunity to find unexplored systems away from the regularly plotted routes, but at this point, I’m incredibly disappointed and just want to go home.
EDIT: It turns out, Pillars of Creation were destroyed by a Super Nova and do not exist in the year 3300. Read more…
